Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2020!

The OIEPB Program celebrated with the Class of 2020 on their successful completion of the program with a virtual graduation and awards ceremony on November 18, 2020. Everyone was thrilled to see each other again and excited to share this special evening together.

 

Dr. Sharon Switzer McIntyre, OIEPB Director kicked off this momentous occasion by welcoming graduates, family, friends, faculty, alumni, clinical partners, OPA and CAPR guests and invited speakers.

 

Honoured guests, Prof. Lynn Wilson, Vice Dean, Clinical and Faculty Affairs, Faculty of Medicine and Dr. Susan Jaglal, Chair, Department of Physical Therapy both delivered poignant speeches and heartfelt congratulations to the class. M. Ismail Abdelkadar, Co-President of the OIEPB Alumni Association welcomed the graduates as new members and look forward to meeting them at the next alumni association event.

 

OIEPB faculty were excited to present the certificate ceremony and to announce the 2020 Academic and Clinical Award recipients.  Alison Bonnyman, Academic Coordinator declared Tenzin Desel, the student with top marks and this year’s recipient of the Academic Excellence Award. Martine Quesnel, Clinical Education Coordinator revealed Mst. Halima Khatun as the recipient of the Clinical Excellence Award. Halima demonstrated exceptional performance on her clinical internships. Bravo Halima!

Calvin Burkart took on the role of Class President and did an amazing job as their class leader.  He delivered a profound and inspirational speech opening with a meaningful quote he found on a demolished bridge in Moab, UT.

“Bridges are symbols of progress at many levels. Crossing is always a small ceremony ending in arrival of someplace separated from where we were except for this slender link.”
